MM1050 Military-Marine 10x50 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 20 Years Old and Still On Duty I have tried binocs from all over the world and in my opinion, no binocs beat German made Steiners. All my life I have used German made optics. As a boy I had access to German WWI and WWII binocs. Although I still have them, they are on well-earned retirement. I bought my Steiners in 1998 to use in my US Navy job on the P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft. We had squadron-issued optics from America and Japan, but my Steiners gave superior low light detection of airborne and surface targets. The wide field of view allowed me to acquire the targets quickly even without a stabilizer unit in a rocking and rolling aircraft. My Steiners retired with me back to CivPac and still provide me excellent service and I'm sure, always will.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Optics. The best in the world hands down! I purchased these through B&H video out of NY. Loved them since the first day I got them. Very high quality and impeccable optics. I still love them despite a nasty fogging in the right lens that appeared in Costa Rica at Arenal Volocano during a typical Costa Rican downpour. I hope to have them back from STEINER optics repair in Colorado soon so I can enjoy more bird-watching and site-seeing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it's good enough for the military, Then it's good enough for me. I looked at a truck load of glass before making my purchase, Steiner 10x50 mm1050's where just as clear as some of the higher-end binos. I use mine for hunting, and I needed something that could take a shock or bump. My Steiner's have some weight to them, but its not bad I use a harness system. Over all I love them they feel good in your hands, and no eye strain after a long day of glassing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine German Optics Steiner Military/Marine binoculars have been widely used by my organization for many years. The 8X models were issued many years ago to our people in the field, on boats and in aircraft. They are used year around and left in vehicles 24/7-365. Our units our decades old and performing flawlessly and I have never seen a case of internal fogging or condensation. With this excellent record in mind, I was elated to see these available on Expert Voice as I had a need for the stronger 10X50 model. Although several decades newer, these did not disappoint! They appear to have a few upgrades, but for the most part are the same tried and true design, with crystal clear optics. Who says they don't make things like they used to?!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Steiner Quality I have wanted Steiner binoculars since I used a pair on the bridge of the USS George Washington in 1993. The adage of getting what you pay for is inherent with Steiner. Are there others of equal or better quality? Perhaps. But the cost/quality ratio cannot be matched. If you suffer from astigmatism, the Sports/Auto focus may need more frequent adjusting. I can live with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid All Around Set of Binoculars I am very impressed with this set of binoculars. The fit and finish are top notch. The picture is equally excellent. They are extremely durable as well. I am surprised at the low price for such a fine pair of optics. I assume since these are mass produced for the military, costs are kept down.

Hello, I recently purchased and received my 10x50 MM50 Military/Marine binoculars. I still use my old Steiner binoculars that are 15 years old and work great. I need the cylindrical eyecups(rubber) to use on my new binoculars. How can I buy this? Thanks.

Asked by: PCMorrow
Eyecups can be purchased from Steinerpartsdirect.com, or the binoculars can be sent to us for refurbishment - steiner-optics.com/repairs

Hi! Please, what is the eyerelief of this model? Thanks.

Asked by: dtcanovas
Eye relief refers to how far away you can keep your eyes from the lens. With riflescopes, this is an important consideration. With Binoculars, we recommend using the eyecups to keep your eyes at the appropriate distance.

Is there a right or wrong way to Sports-Auto-Focus.

Asked by: Masonic Phantom
How to use the Sports Auto-Focus: All our individual focus models feature Sports Auto-Focus. The advantage to this feature is that - once set to your eyes - it allows you to view images from 20 yards to infinity without having to refocus for different distances. Higher power models (10x or more) will be in focus from 30-40 yards to infinity. The proper way to focus the Sports Auto-Focus is: --Choose an image, sign or a tree at least 100 yards away to view. --Cover one of the objective lenses with your hand or the objective cover. --Look through the binocular with both eyes open. --On the side not covered, turn the ocular’s diopter setting ring until the image appears clear and sharp. --Uncover the lens and repeat the procedure with the opposite lens. --When viewing through both lenses, all images from 20 yards to infinity will be bright, clear and in focus. Higher power models (10x-20x) may require higher initial focus distance. Make note of your diopter setting, as it can be unique to each user. Some models feature the new Memory Ocular, a device that saves your individual setting.

Do the objective covers snap in or slip over the housing? I have an older pair of 8x30s that have the slip over style and they often don't stay put.

Asked by: Woodbee
The current version snap in.
