CQBL-1

Close Quarters Battle Laser

Hover to Zoom

One of the smallest and most rugged dual function lasers available, the CQBL-1 is compatible with virtually every submachine gun and short barrel rifle, and packs the output power needed for use on carbine, rifle and light machine gun systems. Its low profile, lightweight housing was originally designed for a specific high profile VIP protective unit, who required a submachine gun laser solution which was concealable. The CQBL-1 has since proven itself as a valuable tool for law enforcement and self-defense carbines.

CQBL-1 is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong Laser, Rugged design Purchased one of these a few months back from a big box retailer online. It is a good quality laser, as expected. Same basic functions as a DBAL but designed for side mounted applications. On that note: while the design is a cool idea I wish it was a tad more low profile. On the positive side it will still work after slamming into various kinds of doors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very robust and compact. I purchased the CQBL-1 especially to be mounted on my tavor. I like how compact and it's operational simplicity (paramount in the dynamic CQB environment).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wish I had better news to report, but... Purchased new for roughly $830.00 . Packaging and initial impression were top notch. Badging indicated the unit was manufactured in the last 2 months The unit's red laser was defective out of the box. The dot was not a clean circle, but rather a large red dot connect to a smaller red dot by a red string. I found it distracting. I reported the issue and provided a picture of the issue, and immediately received an RMA number and shipping label to get the unit repaired. I have yet shoot a round using the unit, as it has now been in the RMA process for a month. After calling for an update, I was told the unit should be repaired this week (week 5). Hopefully I will have the unit back by week 6. At the moment, I can't recommend the product, as the cons are far outweighing the pros on which I based my purchase. I hope this changes once I actually get the unit back. When I do get it back, I will review the performance of both the red and IR laser, as well as the quality of the co-alignment of the lasers, and the state of the unit's external surfaces, since it was returned for the repair work in new/pristine condition. I will post the results and modify my review accordingly.

Can you tell me the power output in mW? Also, how far is the laser visible in daylight conditions.

I have noticed on a lot of your devices that incorporate a laser that when the item is offered in both black and desert tan the output power of the laser is given as less than 5mW (<5mW) while the other item color is given as greater than 5mW (>5mW). Why?

Asked by: BugBug
All civilian models with red or green aiming lasers are <5mW. Any product description that indicates otherwise for a civilian model is incorrect.

Is the CQBL-1 off-set or in-line with the bore of the barrel? If not in-line, which models are in-line?

Asked by: Gonad
The only model that is truly in-line with the barrel is the AR-2A, as it mounts to a typical A2 front sight. The CQBL-1's tandem laser module is centered with respect to the mount, but that module has two laser apertures, which would offset each slightly - additionally, this would only old true when mounted directly above or below the barrel, as not all forends place the left and right rails true to the barrel.

Why is removal of battery recommended? I must remove device to remove battery.

Asked by: joe spain
Whenever the two contacts of a battery are connected, there is some power loss. Additionally, allowing the contacts to remain connected for extended periods of time can lead to corrosion. this is true for any electronic device.

Cann this be mounted on a pistol rail?

Asked by: Brad
These are designed to be top mounted and therefore the adjustment knobs will be upside down if mounted on a bottom rail of a handgun.
