GS3 2-10x42 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Built like a tank. Just bought the scope, very happy. The glass is 1st class and extemely clear, along the same quality of other similar priced euro scopes. What really stands out is the build quality, this thing is built like a tank and finished beautifully. I could have bought other more expensive scopes, but I felt like the Steiner could stand the harsh conditions of the sw pacific. Ballistic plex was a great idea, simple to adopt and innovative. I would bet that this will be copied by other manufacturers. The only thing that rattled my cage was the fact that no scope cover was included considering the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Scope I cannot even begin to explain the quality of my Steiner riflescope. I’ve owned low end scopes from day one, e.g. Tasco and Bushnell. Recently, took the advice from a friend and started purchasing better quality scopes. My first attempt was a Nikon, I returned it after I noticed the plastic turret covers were stripping. Since, I bought two are Burris Fullfield E1. This Steiner is the next jump up, great optics and hardware! During my first outing, I compared it to a friend’s Leupold VX-2 Gold series, a night and day difference. Instead of saying your VX is a poor attempt at optics, I stated try shooting my rifle. I hope that it swayed him. He’s a great rifle and average scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this scope when they first came out. I can't say enough good about it. It's a very robust scope. Only wish it were available in a little higher magnification. Such as 3/12. Love the 42mm objective on my hunting rifles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent glass! I own a couple of these Steiner scopes. They are as good as it gets for target shooting and deer hunting. Optics are very bright and clear. They are very solid and there's no change of zero under heavy use even on my 375 h&h. Like them so much I'm ordering the 3rd one for my new 7mm rem mag custom rifle. These scopes as well as everything Steiner builds are top notch. Try one and I'm sure you will agree.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Scope! I purchased a Steiner GS3 2-10x42 scope for my Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine in .308 Winchester. I owned a pair of Steiner binoculars years ago in the eighties, but this was my first Steiner scope purchase. Well, after mounting it and using it at the range, I can't tell you how glad I am I chose it! The glass is crystal clear offering outstanding clarity. The turret adjustments are finely calibrated and spot on which made the sight-in process a breeze. I opted for the simple to use and uncluttered view of the 4A reticle which I am familiar with much prefer. I have to say that looking through this Steiner scope gives me the confidence to believe I will have a successful hunt on any occasion my quarry gives me a fair chance in taking it. Thank you Steiner for providing world class optics at very reasonable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Perfect range of magnification, 2.5-10, for my purposes. Forgiving eye relief for fast acquisition with brilliant full field clarity. The S1 reticle is straight forward and useful. I really appreciated the included reticle application chart for the various calibers. Everything I needed with nothing I didn't need. Perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really great scope. Super clear optics. The Steiner GS3 2-10x42 is a fantastic scope, especially for the price. It compares to my buddy's Swarovski, Kahles, and Leica scopes, but is less than half the price. It is even better than my Leupold VX-6 (2-12x42), as the glass is clearer with better light transmission. I really like the 2-10 magnification range on my Browning BAR .308. I hunt deer and hogs in both thick timber and open country, so this scope is perfect for this rifle. I got the 4A reticle, not the S-1. The S-1 reticle is not really practical for us .30 caliber shooters, as the hash marks are based on .22-250 ballistics. I paid more for the 4A reticle version, but it was worth it for the type of shooting I do. It is physically a big scope, but I think that contributes to its quality and function. It weighs comparable to similar scope in that class, too. The 30mm tube is nice as well. I would highly recommend this scope or any of the GS3 models. It's really an incredible scope for the price.

What is the little "plug" that sticks out at a 45 degree angle left side center below the turrets?

Asked by: Don B
Hello, That is a posi skirt. It is very similar to the old school posi Lock that some scopes use. It helps the scope hold zero under very heavy recoil. It is a passive system, and requires no adjustment from the user.

Is that small knob on the GS3 2-10x42 below the turrets for parallax adjustment ?

Asked by: Mescal Mike
No, that is a posi skirt. It aids the scope in holding up against extreme recoil.

Can you tell me where the reticle is fitted is it in the first focal plane or the second as I don't want a scope that makes the reticle bigger as you increase the magnification

Asked by: Tackleberry
Hello, The GS3 line of scopes are all rear focal plane, so the reticle will not appear to grow or shrink at all.
