Nighthunter S35 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great thermal This thermal is amazing. It feels and looks pretty natural on my 16” AR, not super bulky. I like the shorter profile. The performance of the optic is great. Keep in mind this is my first ever. I could easily spot a deer over a mile away with this optic. (Not for hunting just testing the optic out) I find that pretty impressive. The details were lost with the digital zoom but still great for spotting and shooting coyotes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Steiner thermal Everything is perfect and is advertised with the scope. However, there is a problem that was not mentioned. While shooting to zero the scope, It began to freeze up after two shots. It wouldn’t not re-calibrate without turning it off and back on. This was aggravating but I finally got it zeroed. I called Steiner in Colorado. The kid I spoke to told me there were issues with this on gas guns as he called them. He said I needed to mount it on a gun with less recoil. It is on a 7.62x39, not a heavy recoiling gun which I explained. I asked if there might be a setting I needed to change which he really couldn’t answer. He just stated it needs to be mounted on a gun with less recoil. There is nothing online Or anywhere at Steiner suggesting a maximum recoil for the S35. I do not want to get in a group of wild hogs and have to turn the scope off and on every two shots. So far not pleased at all. I’ll see how it does in an actual hunting situation. I asked about a technology update and he said there were none for this scope. Update: I called Burris/Steiner and the gentlemen Listened to my concerns. It seems there are some issues with this model and recoil from semi autos. He suggested I send it back in for them to look at and sent the prepaid return label. I did take it hunting last night and it did perform well on the 223 AR15. Batteries only lasted 3 hours but the clarity was right there with my hunting partners pulsar. Update: Maybe it just needed to get the bugs worked out because it functions fine now on the 7.62x39.
